How to Handle Anxiety of Finding Your Career Path

I had the most difficult time finding a new career path. I always wanted to be a soccer player. Unfortunately, it didn’t pan out. I had to find something else. For three years, I felt stuck because I didn’t know which way to go. With a bachelor’s degree, it wasn’t fulfilling what I thought would lead to a promising career. I had anxiety that I wouldn’t be able to find a career path. I was a 28-year old who couldn’t make up my mind.

Careers are difficult to find especially with the stress and anxiety society places on us to be successful. Students are overwhelmed by options. At one hand, their is a safe choice by going to a four-year college.

However, recent news suggests that a four-year school may not be the best choice leaving career seekers anxious about everything. You don’t need to feel anxious. These are tips and tricks on how to handle the anxiety of finding your career path.

Try Everything

Yup! You should absolutely try everything. Undoubtedly, the more you try the more likely you’ll be able to find something that suits your passions and career goals. I stumbled into marketing by accident. This is a primary example. Since I had no expectations, I had an open mind to try everything. It was soon that I began to realize that marketing was a career path that was calling for me. I enjoyed writing, was passionate about having a cause, and I had a creative mind.

Destiny has a funny way of leading us to better options. Also, anxiety can be used as a powerful motivator to find something that is more your style.

Follow Your Passions

This is the age old quote. It is an ancient quote because it is true. Life is too short to do something you hate. Alternatively, some people opt not to pursue their options because they are afraid they will fail or they will not make an income.

With the introduction of YouTube and other resources, it’s almost impossible not to earn an income with what you love to do. There are smart ways to do it though. I’ve seen people earn a good income on reviewing fast food! It’s because they are passionate about fast food and know there is a market for it.

It should be noted that research is key. Nonetheless, a good example is writing. If you love to write, start a new blog, write a book, or give pointers to people who are interested in writing books. This is just an example! There are millions of other passions you can choose from.

Technical Colleges

Alas, technical colleges are an excellent option. Not only do they provide a source of income and skill set, but they also are part of an in-demand workforce. For instance, lets say you want to become a home health aide.

You learn everything about what a home health aide is supposed to do right? Once you understand the profession, why not write or post videos on the proper techniques of a home health aide?

It’s about mastering your trade and truly bringing it to life.
