How to Relieve Stress After Winter Break!

Students are always so stressed to start school again after winter break. They always dread when winter break is coming to an end. They wish that winter break will never end. However, here are four helpful tips to relieve stress after the end of winter break.


First, students should be active. It can be a sport, a hobby, exercising, etc. Physical activity can pump up your feel-good emotions and other natural chemicals that enhance your sense of well-being. Exercise can also lightens your mind on your body’s movements, which can improve your mood and help the day’s irritations fade away. Exercising doesn’t mean doing a sport or going to the gym. It could be as simple as taking a walk to a park or outside.


Second, students should laugh more. A good sense of humor can’t cure everything, but it could help students feel better. When people laugh, it not only lightens their mental load but also causes positive physical changes in their body. Laughter fires up and then cools down their stress response. Try reading some jokes or watching some comedic TV show or movie.

Connecting With Others!

Third, students should connect with others. When students are stressed and irritable, their instinct may be to isolate themselves. Instead, reach out to family and friends and make social connections. Social contact is a good stress reliever because it can offer distraction, provide support and help you tolerate life’s up and downs. So, if students are stressing over a project or a question they don’t know how to do, don’t be scared to reach out to family, friends and even therapists who care.


Lastly, students should get enough sleep. When students have too much to do and too much to think about, their sleep can suffer. Sleep is very important to life and students’ well-being. When people go to sleep, their brain and body will recharge overnight. The quality and amount of sleep people get can affect their mood, energy level, concentration and overall functioning. People need at least 6 to 8 hours of sleep. Students should keep a constant sleep schedule. The reason why is if their sleep schedule gets messed up, they could end up not sleeping enough. In addition, this can result to getting more stressed.
