Certified Nurse Aides do have the opportunity to reinstate their license if it is lapsed. The Certified Nurse Aide is for any and all Certified Nurse Aides with an expired New Jersey Certified Nurse Aide license in which the Department of Health issues waiver allowing students to attend a skills evaluation and written exam without needing to complete the 90-hour New Jersey Certified Nurse Aide program. These are the most common questions we receive from our students.
HOW CAN I GET MY CERTIFIED NURSE AIDE LICENSE REINSTATED?
A student must receive a waiver from the Department of Health which allows the student to attend a skills evaluation and a written exam without needing to complete the 90-hour New Jersey Certified Nurse Aide training program. The students requesting a reinstatement with the school must provide an application issued by the Department of Health that has been stamped and approved with a 90-hour training waiver.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE REINSTATEMENT SKILLS EVALUATION?
Once the student completed the evaluation, the student will receive a notification by email or mail of the skills results (pass or fail.) If the student fails the evaluation, the student is eligible to retake the skills evaluation up to three times. After the third time, if the student fails, the student must repeat the course. If the student passes, the student shall contact PSI to schedule the written exam. If the student passes the written exam, the student will receive the New Jersey Certified Nurse Aide license on the same day.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
The tuition for the Certified Nurse Aide reinstatement is $200 which includes the clinical supplies and the evaluator fees. The state testing fee is $76 in the form of a money order to make payable to PSI. It must be handed in by the skill evaluator by the student on the same day of the evaluation.
WHAT IS THE BENEFIT OF REINSTATING YOUR CERTIFIED NURSE AIDE LICENSE?
The benefit of reinstating your Certified Nurse Aide license is that you will not need to retake the entire class of 90-hours to work as a Certified Nurse Aide in the state of New Jersey. Additionally, we offer excellent partnership opportunities with nearby nursing homes and agencies that provide employment opportunities to our graduates. You can begin the process by filling out a New Jersey Board of Nursing Reinstatement application.
