COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course is designed to provide students with a basic introduction to the core knowledge of skills & practices of becoming proficient in the field
of food & human nutrition. Students will develop an understanding how to recognize and guide your patient and case load in the field of human food and
nutrition. They will also learn how to research and apply your findings into writing a safe and healthy nutritional plan that fits your patients’ goals and medical needs.

E&S Academy is a reputable vocational school in the state of New Jersey. This is a new program we offer because it is in high demand by employers. When a career is in demand, we add it to our list of current training programs. This course is to provide nutrition specialists with the expertise of understanding the basics of food and nutrition.

WHAT DOES A NUTRITION SPECIALIST DO?

Nutritionists advise individuals on how to eat to live a healthy lifestyle or reach a specific health-related goal.

A Nutrition specialists tasks and responsibilities may include the following:

  • Determine the dietary and health needs of patients and clients.
  • Create food and nutrition programs that take into consideration the tastes and financial constraints of your consumers.
  • Examine the impact of meal planning and make changes as necessary.
  • Speak to clients about food, nutrition, and the link between healthy eating habits and the prevention or management of particular diseases to improve their health.
  • Make instructional materials about the importance of eating healthy foods.
  • Keep up with current food and nutritional science research, or contribute to it.
  • Keep track of the progress of their patients.

WHERE DOES A NUTRITION SPECIALIST WORK?

Nutritionists operate in a variety of settings, including hospitals, nursing homes, clinics, cafeterias, and government agencies.

Each module provided in this online course has a specific goal. Module 1 will discuss basic concepts of nutrition and how it affects the body
Module 2 will provide a definition and explanation of metabolism and how it differs from person to person. Module 3 will Detail the specifics of protein and the chemical changes that occur in the body. Then, module 4 will detail the importance of carbs in our diet and what we need to survive and thrive. Module 5 will provide a breakdown of what good and bad fats are and what we need to survive. Module 6 will demonstrate the need for hydration in our diet and what happens when we deprive ourselves of liquids. Module 7 will discuss the chemical changes that occur in our body when we consume drugs & alcohol. Lastly, module 8 will explain the chemical changes of supplements in our body and how it affects performance.
