The course is designed to provide students with an understanding of the daily working environment of a PTA and what the essential job functions. Students will understand the skills necessary to work independently under the supervision of a board certified and licensed physical therapist. Students will learn to effectively manage and communicate with their patient load and fully understand the expectations of their managing supervisor.

WHAT DOES A PHYSICAL THERAPIST AIDE DO?
Patients receive rehabilitative therapy from Physical Therapy Aides in collaboration with Physical Therapists and other PTAs.
A Physical Therapy Aide’s tasks and responsibilities may include the following in most physical therapy clinics:
- Observe the patients they’re working with before, during, and after therapy, and report any observations to the Physical Therapist.
- Assign the patient with particular exercises and assist them in performing them.
- Help patients restore mobility and lessen discomfort by using gadgets such as walkers and other equipment.
- To treat patients by using a range of therapies such as stretching and massage.
- Assist patients in getting into and out of the treatment room.
WHERE DOES A PHYSICAL THERAPIST AIDE WORK?
The majority of physical therapist aides work in hospitals or in physical therapist’s offices.
